On Thursday of this past week we met with 7 other missionary couples for Thanksgiving Dinner and for our first family home evening since the summer missionaries left for home. During the winter we meet only twice a month as a group, and it rotates among the couples. We also moved up the time since it gets dark so early now, although this first one was held in the afternoon since it was Thanksgiving.
We had no shortage of good food. The only thing missing was family. After eating, we spent a couple of hours talking about our blessings and hearing from each other. The wives told about their families and background, and the husbands shared some less obvious blessings. Besides getting to know the two couples who arrived earlier this month, we are getting better acquainted with our new presidency. We met in the basement of the Temple President's home . . . a place we have gone often in recent months and where many good memories have been made on our mission. It was a good day, but family was not far from anyone's thoughts.
