It was always exciting news when one of our children would write home from his/her mission that they were being transferred. It is not quite so exciting when it happens to you!
Today was an historic day in our branch in southwestern NY. We were scheduled to talk in church; but a couple of days ago we received word that the stake president would be visiting, and we would not be speaking. As it turned out, our branch was dissolved along with another branch in the stake. These wonderful members have been assigned to attend one of two wards in their stake - one of which is in Pennsylvania. It will require an extra 30 minutes or so of driving each week.
Just when we were getting to know the members, we are left to wonder if we will ever see them again. A lot of tears were shed by those valiant brothers and sisters who have tried so hard to make things work.
We will be receiving a new weekend assignment, possibly in the same stake but not necessarily.
Last night we spent the evening in Westfield along the banks of Lake Erie in the cutest little cottage secluded by trees and just a short walk from the beach. We will miss our visits and the people we have come to love.
Below are some pictures of Barcelona Harbor on Lake Erie taken in Westfield this weekend.
