This historic day began in Fayette, New York where 185 years ago, the Church of Christ was established once again on the earth.
The scriptures teach “by
their fruits ye shall know them” (referring to true prophets, but it applies here as well).
On April 6, 1830, and with
just a handful of members, Christ’s church was organized. Now, 185 years later it has . . .
Over 15 million members
Almost 30,000 congregations
144 operating temples*
Over 85,000 missionaries
serving in over 400 missions.
It took 117 years for the
church to grow to 1 million in membership, and now it is the second fasting
growing church in the United States.
This growth is remarkable, but it is only beginning.
This is the dispensation that prophets foretold and saw in vision. We are
grateful to be part of the work of salvation and to witness the
fulfilling of prophecies.
| The new and improved Mark's Pizzaria on Main Street in Palmyra where we ate lunch. They have a large dining area now and an outdoor patio. |
| While our district was in Albany at the museum seeing an original copy of the Book of Mormon for district activity, we were in Palmyra checking one out. |
Later in the day we traveled
to Palmyra to visit the Grandin Printing Site and the Smith Farm. It has been an honor to serve both our missions in the state of
New York – one on the east side and one on the west.
It is our testimony that the
doctrine of Jesus Christ and the authority to act in His name is found in The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

years in which time 124 temples have been built and dedicated.
