The Lighted Nativity at the Gate of the Temple

This night-time picture does not do this scene justice.  Just outside the entrance gate to the parking lot, so that it is visible to all who drive by on Temple Road, is this nativity scene.  One of the facility management missionaries said it took four men to carry Mary and Joseph and place them on this spot.

I'm also posting a couple of pictures of our family home evening at the Smith Farm.  We caroled with our flashlights from the visitor's center to the log cabin (where a senior missionary couple dressed in character read us "Twas the Night before Christmas"), from the log cabin to the Smith home (where another senior missionary recited for memory Luke 2), from the Smith home to the barn (where some of the young elders had us participate in 3 pioneer-type games) . . . and then back to the basement of the visitor's center where we had hot chocolate and homemade cookies.

We did not actually enter the grove (just skirted it) because it was so dark out in that area. We particularly loved seeing the lighted temple up on the hill peeking through the leaf-bare trees as if watching over the farm and grove below.  It was a wonderful experience to be sandwiched between two very sacred spots singing of the Savior's  birth.

Going on a tour here at night and in winter with all the missionaries, added to the Christmas lights and the Christmas Spirit, created a memory that will stay with us for the rest of our lives every holiday season.
