Hump Day

Tomorrow is our “hump” day on the mission . . . 

our halfway mark.  

It is hard to believe that six months has passed already, and experience teaches that the second half goes even faster than the first.  

In a few weeks the 16 couples of summer missionaries leave for home, and right after that we will welcome a new temple presidency.

  We’re also switching (starting tomorrow) to winter schedule.  It eliminates one of our six shifts and gives us an extra day off.  Now we will have both Mondays and Wednesdays to catch our breath and to work on personal goals.  

Doug wonders what he will do to unwind now that the garden has been put to bed for the winter and yard work will be out of the question due to the impending snow and cold.

Although winter is not far off, we are thoroughly enjoying autumn.  The colors that we saw on our trip to Pennsylvania this past weekend were absolutely stunning.  We have never witnessed so many reds and oranges amid the greens and yellows as we saw on the tree-covered, rolling hills in the rural areas through which we travel.  Each week I think we are at the peak of the season, but so far I have been wrong; it just gets better and better as more color is added to the masterpiece that God creates each fall.
