The Lehigh Valley Railroad Historical Society, in cooperation with the Finger Lakes Railway, sponsored a fall foliage train excursion over the former New York Central Railroad “Auburn Road” branch line between Shortsville and Phelps, New York, on Saturday. Two diesel locomotives and four passenger coaches that were filled to capacity made the 90-minute ride -- an 18-mile round trip. It was something to do that was a little bit different, but the leaves we saw today didn't really compare to the ones we saw last weekend. The profits went toward the museum, so we contributed to a good cause.
