Near the John Young home and the Tomlinson Inn is the site where Brigham Young lived for a while and where he was baptized, along with dozens of early Mendon saints. Brigham built a mill on this stream that ran through his father's farm, and he lived in the upstairs part of the mill.
The picture below shows the path leading to the stream.
A sign marks the spot along the stream where the mill was located. The larger sign was posted last February. The smaller sign was put there by an older resident of Mendon who is not a member but who is familiar with the history because he married into the family who owned the property before the church purchased it. He also mows and maintains the path leading to the site.
You can still see some of the old, original logs in the stream.
We enjoyed walking out to see this site and considering the historical significance it held.
