The MTC is Newer and Better

For this mission we decided to travel by air to get to the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. It saves about 14 hours of extra driving. We checked in before 11 a.m. and got checked into our room. That was followed by orientations and trainings. Dad was assigned to be a district leader. For senior missionary family home evening, we watched Elder Bednar’s presentation on the Character of Christ. It was a full day, and we were exhausted and ready for sleep at 8:30 pm.

On Tuesday evening we attended the weekly devotional where we heard from Elder Gerrit W. Gong and his wife. He has only been an apostle for about 10 weeks. He discussed 4 gospel truths relative to how we are  instruments of the Lord to fulfill prophecy (I.e. taking the gospel message to every kindred, tongue, and people). The music was superb. It never gets old to sing “Called to Serve with hundreds of set-apart missionaries.

Other highlights: 

Tuesday: Ate breakfast w/President and Sister Martino, attended classes, went to see murals in the new buildings, and rented a car

Wednesday: Went to the Provo CIty Center Temple for baptisms, sealings, and initiatory; taught our companion couple, and other training

Thursday: Went on an art walk through the new buildings and took some pictures of our favorite murals; learned more about how to use Gospel Library; taught a 2nd lesson to our companion couple, and other training
