On Sunday Albany Stake held its first YSA sacrament meeting. It was a success in every way, but the real test will be if those who came Sunday continue to come back. Many of them have to drive long distances. The vision is to one day have a YSA unit. Right now they piggy-back on the branch. That means they share Sunday School and Relief Society/Priesthood with the branch and hold their own sacrament meeting at the end of the branch's block of meetings.
The center section of the chapel was as full as the branch's meeting, and the testimonies confirmed that leaders are on the right track. It was a beautiful sight! While the president and his team were doing individual interviews (for the purpose of getting better acquainted and giving callings), we taught a Sunday School lesson in the chapel on the Signs of the Second Coming (the presentation we first prepared for GIG but didn't use.
Later we helped with things like playing the organ, setting up the sacrament, and preparing the linger longer held at the end. It was exciting to see progress with the YSA program and to have a group of young adults socializing and having a good time.
Last night at family home evening we had about half come of the YSA's that were at church on Sunday. It wasn't a big turnout, but it was definitely larger than usual. They made their own pizzas, played games, and socialized.
