Yesterday we helped take 15 young men and women to the Palmyra Temple (a 400-mile round trip). These youth came from the ward and from the branch. We met at the stake center at 6 a.m.
When we arrived at the temple, Elder Ellsworth was given the opportunity to be the baptistry coordinator for our group since the shift was short-handed and because it is a position that does not require being set-apart. The counselor in the presidency who was there that morning knows us from our mission. We were serving when this presidency began their three years.
It was like going back in time. Elder Ellsworth slipped right back into temple missionary mode and probably raised a few eyebrows from ward leaders that don't know us very well because he was so knowledgable about the baptistry and how to do what needed to be done.
It was a special treat for us to see 6-8 temple ordinance friends that we knew from two years ago. One couple was in our first temple presidency. It was so nice to be remembered.
Of the 15 youth, 4 were from our branch, and one was doing baptisms for the first time.
Almost 230 ordinances were completed by our group. We took pictures and then headed to lunch at KFC/Taco Bell.
Everyone had a good time.
We returned home about 4:30 p.m. tired but happy.
